REVEAL @ Pacific Asia workshop on Intelligence and Security Informatics (PAISI)
On 19 May 2015 we had the opportunity to present some of our research outcomes at the Pacific Asia workshop on Intelligence and Security Informatics (PAISI) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Two research outcomes of the work carried out in REVEAL have been presented at the Pacific Asia workshop on Intelligence and Security Informatics (PAISI). The workshop was co-located with the well-known Pacific Asia conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PA-KDD), in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on May 19th.
Workshop and conference attendants mainly represented the Data Mining and Machine Learning community. Every year, they present a number of related advances in these areas that push the limits of state-of-the-art technologies. The venue itself acts as a lively forum for the exchange of know-how, and to discuss methodological and scientific issues related to the topics of the conference.
The first presentation delivered pertained to Media REVEALr, a framework and web application for monitoring, indexing and mining Web and social media content with the goal of supporting several verification processes.
The second presentation then focused on an improved approach for geotagging social media content based on the accompanying text (e.g. tags accompanying shared images).
Both presentations were held by Symeon Papadopoulos from CERTH. The workshop attendants showed particular interest in each of them, as well as in the REVEAL project as a whole. It led to interesting questions and discussions after the end of the presentations.
The presentations are also available in REVEAL’s SlideShare channel and can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
