On 11 June 2015 Katerina Andreadou had the opportunity to present two of CERTH-ITI’s recent works that are part of REVEAL at the 13th International Workshop on Content-Based Multimedia Indexing (CBMI 2015) in Prague, Czech Republic.

The CBMI 2015 workshop took place in Prague from 10-12 June 2015. It was the 13th of its kind, covering the research areas multimedia indexing, retrieval, browsing and presentation.

The scientific programme of CBMI 2015 included invited keynote talks as well as regular, special and demo sessions. This year, numerous talks were also related to the fields of deep learning and large scale analysis.

Throughout the workshop, attending researchers had the opportunity to exchange ideas on recent advances in their specialist fields, and contemplate future collaborations.

The first presentation delivered by CERT-ITI, who presented REVEAL work at the event, dealt with the subject of predicting the size of web images with the purpose of improving the performance and throughput of the focused REVEAL image crawler.

The second presentation then concentrated on the problem of multimedia search over multiple social networks with the goal of exploiting the social media presence, in order to monitor events and news stories in a more complete and informed fashion.

Both presentations were held by the author of this post, Katerina Andreadou, from CERTH-ITI. They are available in REVEAL’s Slideshare channel and can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
