Interview with Jeff Jarvis on Social Media in Journalism
How do journalists verify content they find in Social Networks? What are current challenges and requirements? Which solutions are already deployed? We wanted to find out and conducted a number of interviews with journalists. This one is with Jeff Jarvis – author, journalist and professor at the City University of New York.
At Deutsche Welle’s Global Media Forum 2014 we had the opportunity to talk to Jeff Jarvis, author, professor and journalist. We talked to him about the future of journalism and the impact of Social Media on journalism. Our focus was the need for verification of content found in Social Networks.
REVEAL raised many questions: Is professional journalism on the decline due to the fact that everybody can publish material on Social Networks? What advice does Jarvis have for journalists dealing with user generated content (UGC)? How important is verification?
Jarvis had many insights to share, have a look for yourself.
