On 7 December 2016, REVEAL was represented at the Monitoring Forum in Munich, Germany, with an information booth. Software AG used the occasion to showcase the enterprise application at this prestigious at social media monitoring and analytics conference. Here, Gabriele Strobel reports about the event and its outcome.
From 23-24 November 2016 REVEAL participated in the 2016 NEM Summit in Porto, Portugal. We showcased some of the project work at the NEM exhibition and participated in a pitching session in which we presented our research outcomes to potential investors.
REVEAL is pleased to announce that it joined the First Draft News partner network. Together with others in the network we will collaborate on various aspects of social newsgathering, in particular the verification of eyewitness media / user-generated content. We look very much forward to a fruitful cooperation and are excited about this new partnership!
In the week starting 21 November you can meet REVEAL team members at two events: on 22 November, we will be represented at the First Draft News partner network meeting in London. Thereafter, from 23-24 November, we will showcase our work at the NEM Summit in Porto.

On 20 Sep 2016 we conducted the final REVEAL workshop. Almost 90 participants attended and joined in lively discussions about challenges and approaches regarding the use and verification of social media in news. Judging by the feedback received, and following comments on Twitter under the conference hashtag #smvw16, we can call it a big success and are delighted with the outcome!

The importance of user generated content (UGC) in journalism is growing relentlessly   . Smartphones have high quality cameras able to take excellent eyewitness images, record videos of events as they happen and even stream videos in real-time. Eyewitness media will often appear on Social Networks before any mention occurs on mainstream news channels.
